Kayleigh Grears

After completing her GCSEs & A Levels at St. Benedict’s RC High School, Whitehaven, Kayleigh Grears decided it would be of great benefit to get a year's structured work experience, so she joined the REACT team through the Year in Industry Scheme.

Prior to this Kayleigh got her first taste of engineering achievement when she received a national Arkwright Scholarship for Science and Engineering in 2005 and also gained runner-up in the regional heats of Young Engineers for Britain. She also took part in the Engineering Education Scheme (EES) in 2005/2006, which enabled her to witness what challenges were involved in an engineering project.

Although only working for REACT for a short time, she has already been given some very interesting and very challenging work, including producing certified documents for use on the Sellafield Nuclear site and working on a wide range of projects.

Kayleigh has found the work to date very challenging and most of all it's a great experience prior to university. She has noticed improvements in her confidence, people and negotiation skills, report writing, problems solving skills and time management skills, even after just a short period with REACT.
