Caroline Hamilton - Consultant

Caroline Hamilton from Aspatria, joined REACT in June 2003 after gaining an MEng in Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University.  Currently working as a Consultant  with particular interest in the environmental aspects of project work, Caroline is reading towards an MSc in Nuclear Decommissioning and Environmental Clean Up. During her time at REACT Caroline has been involved in a wide range of engineering projects supporting both the retrieval and decommissioning areas on nuclear sites. Caroline's experience includes providing support both to the front end design strategy, as well as project management and preparation of safety and environmental documentation required for on-site implementation. This work has included assessment of project strategies against environmental impact criteria and the development of environmental strategies for plant operations utilising Best Practicable Means (BPM) and Best Practicable Environmental Option (BPEO) methods.

Caroline chose REACT because her ambition is to get chartered as soon as possible. She explains:
"REACT offers an IMechE accredited MPDS which is perfect for me as I want to get chartered as soon as possible. I also like the fact that REACT is a small company. From past experience I know that large companies that offer MPDS may not necessarily have the time or resources to support the scheme; trainees become ‘lost' in the system, pigeon-holed and forgotten about. With REACT I know that as long as I am pro-active I will receive the required training and attention to get chartered status".
