REACT Engineering was one of the sponsors for the REACT Foundation's Annual Science & Engineering Show.

ZOOMING cameras, water rockets and shot putts are not usually found in school science experiments. However, for nearly 2,000 West Cumbrian Year 6 pupils, these were the props used in an exciting show run by the touring National Science Museum. The show, held at Workington’s Carnegie Theatre and Whitehaven’s Civic Hall, saw staff from the famous museum carry out spectacular experiments using innovative methods to wow the youngsters.

The show demonstrated the forces of gravity using stunt frogs and astronauts. Pete Woolaghan, REACT Foundation’s chairman, said: “Our aim is to excite and inspire local youngsters to think about the part science and engineering play in our everyday lives. “We hold these annual events to try and banish the idea that science is too dull and difficult for younger pupils to grasp. “If the shows could spark a life-long interest in science and engineering in just a handful of all those attending, I would be delighted.’’

A spokesperson for the Museum said: “We take students beyond the classroom and turn science into a thrilling learning experience.’’
