React enables a ‘landmark day for major projects’ at Winfrith and the Low Level Waste Repository
React was a key contributor to the success of the Treated Radwaste Store (TRS) drums project that developed, tested, and implemented a first-of-its-kind solution for transporting and emplacing the drums within an existing Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) vault, utilising previously unusable space which would otherwise need to be in-filled on closure.
Accelerating the Decommissioning of Sellafield’s Medium Active Salt Evaporator
The concentrate ejectors are critical to the operation of the Medium Active Salt Evaporator Plant (MASE), as they are needed for transferring radioactive liquor from the evaporators, for export from the plant. The ejectors had blocked in 2022 as the plant approached the end of its operational life, several unsuccessful attempts to unblock the ejectors had been previously undertaken.
React enables Spot® the Dog to enter high-active environment in Dounreay
React has successfully deployed the NV-Explore radiological survey equipment mounted to a Boston Dynamics ‘Spot® the Dog’ platform in a historic high-active cell in Dounreay. The combination of cutting-edge surveying and robotics technology has allowed decommissioning teams to see inside of a high-active cell that has been inaccessible since the 1990s.
Application of bespoke demolition concepts enables decommissioning on the Sellafield Site
React led the development of a right-first time demolition concept that was successfully implemented on a redundant facility in a very congested area of the Sellafield site.
Establishing the history of Sellafield to inform the future of decommissioning projects
Since 2018 React has successfully compiled and delivered comprehensive histories for over 80 legacy facilities on the Sellafield site.
React deliver cost savings and accelerate decommissioning at Dounreay Site
Nuclear Restoration Services Dounreay required the development of a robust, high-confidence plan for decommissioning and demolition of the High Active Liquor Storage and Evaporation Facility, a legacy building with high dose rates, restricted access, significant amounts of contaminated liquor and waste with limited characterisation information available.
